Hello BWL 2 students,

My name is Ann Troy-Inniss and I look forward to being your lecturer for your Moodle-supported English for Business course at B2 (upper intermediate) level.
The Moodle page will be updated at the beginning of each week, and you will be expected to check this page regularly. The course reflects the expected workload to achieve the required credit points.

Assessment:: 50% written portfolio assignments / 50% oral presentations.

We meet in class Mondays for 4 units/week over the course of 8 weeks. The rest will be made up of assignments and self-study: learning vocabulary, writing etc.

There are a multitude of sources out there to help you develop and improve your English. Here's a few:

Duolingo is a free language learning app that uses game-like methods to help you improve your English.

- Englisch Hilfen - https://www.englisch-hilfen.de/en/

This website has clear explanations of grammar and vocabulary topics aimed at German speakers.

- DW - https://www.dw.com/en/top-stories/s-9097

DW is a news website which has news about Germany in English with videos which are easy to follow.

Finally, the open secret to learning a new language: Consistency, consistency, consistency!

Get into the habit of reading - even if it’s just for ten minutes every day. Explore what interests you and read about it.
Watch English documentaries, films and TV series – besides being good fun, this will help you to understand different accents, and slang.
Remember...drop by drop the bucket is filled!

Course work and materials

Each week, you'll find materials and links to help you cover this course successfully. You will upload certain homework assignments.

I hope you enjoy our English for Business Model and look forward to meeting you all soon.
